The McIntosh MC451 Dual Mono Amplifier is a specialized, single-channel powerhouse designed for precision bi-amplification. It uniquely combines a 300-Watt solid-state amplifier for bass frequencies and a 150-Watt vacuum tube amplifier for midranges and trebles within one chassis, ensuring distinct sonic benefits for each frequency range.
Featuring Hybrid Drive™ Technology, it leverages Autoformer™ for solid-state and Unity Coupled Output Transformer for tube sections, delivering full power into 2, 4, or 8 Ohm loads. Technologies like Power Guard® and Power Guard SGS® protect both sections. Its iconic black glass front panel with visible tubes and a DualView™ Power Output Meter showcases its engineering. – Designed with bi-amping loudspeakers in mind, the MC451 is comprised of a 150 Watt vacuum tube amplifier and 300 Watt solid state amplifier.
– The vacuum tube section powers midranges and tweeters while the solid state section drives power hungry woofers.
– Uses our Hybrid Drive™ technology that combines a separate vacuum tube and solid state amplifier onto one single chassis to produce the best possible sound performance.
– The full power is available to almost any speaker regardless if it has 2, 4 or 8 Ohm impedance via our Unity Coupled Circuit output transformer in the vacuum tube section or our Autoformer™ in the solid state section.
– The large but quiet toroidal transformer generates enough power so that neither amplifier robs power or performance from the other.
– An internal crossover lets you easily adjust the performance of both amplifiers to your listening preferences and speaker specifications.
– Includes our DualView™ Power Output Meter that independently displays the real time power reading of each amplifier.
