The dCS Vivaldi CD/SACD Transport II is the latest iteration of dCS’s uncompromising approach to silver disc playback, forming a cornerstone of their reference Vivaldi digital audio system. Engineered to extract every last nuance from both Red Book CDs and Super Audio CDs, this dedicated upsampling transport features a meticulously integrated Sound United D&M SACD mechanism, selected for its exceptional rigidity, stable disc rotation, and near-silent operation.
At its core, the Vivaldi Transport II employs the latest generation of dCS’s powerful FPGA-based Digital Processing Platform. This allows it to not only read native CD data but also to simultaneously upsample it to high-resolution formats like DSD, DSDx2, or DXD, delivering this enhanced data to a dCS DAC via its crucial Dual AES interface. SACD content is output as encrypted DSD. Further refining its performance, the Transport II benefits from improved, multi-stage power supplies that provide ultra-clean power to its sensitive circuitry and a robust, aerospace-grade machined aluminum chassis with integrated acoustic damping to eliminate vibration and interference. With comprehensive digital outputs and Word Clock I/O for precise synchronization with the Vivaldi Master Clock, the Vivaldi CD/SACD Transport II sets a new benchmark for disc replay, offering an unparalleled level of detail, dynamic expression, and musical realism that truly brings physical media to life.
